Brent Hands

Therapist

Hello, my name is Brent Hands and I am excited to have the opportunity to meet and work with you on whatever goals you bring in our time together. I will begin my introduction by telling you a little about my professional journey; I am a licensed clinical social worker providing individual, group therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults for more than 30 years. I have provided these services in community mental health centers, youth service programs and foster care programs. In addition to providing therapy, I have also been in a supervisory role as a program director. I received my Master’s in Social Work from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. My experience at McGill was significant in exposing me to an incredibly diverse community of people with an equally diverse perspective on the world.

In our sessions, I will utilize a strengths-based approach which focuses on identifying protective factors in your life that help build the resiliency necessary to meet your challenges as you navigate your way through the milestones that are important to you. Our work will be collaborative and focus on developing a team approach to addressing the needs that brought you to U Are Heard.

Some of the tools and techniques I have utilized, in assisting and supporting my clients to develop and sustain a growth mindset, include solution focused therapy, talk therapy, narrative therapy, and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy. My objective in working with you is to establish a safe and trusting relationship to establish a strong foundation to mutually address your goals.

In my free time, I like to be outdoors (hiking or biking) spending time at the ocean and in the mountains.
