COLLEGE ADJUSTMENT CHECK-IN

Is Your College Student Adjusting?
Or is Something Starting to Go Wrong?

College comes with stress, setbacks, new responsibilities, and a lot more independence.

Sometimes those challenges are simply part of the adjustment. Other times, they can be early signs that a student is starting to struggle in ways that deserve more attention.

The College Adjustment Check-In is a quick way to take a closer look at what you’re seeing right now.

In about 60–90 seconds, you’ll answer eight simple questions about:

  • Academics
  • Stress
  • Social adjustment
  • Routines and organization
  • Problem solving
  • Communication
  • Changes from their normal baseline
  • Your overall level of concern

There are no right or wrong answers. The goal is to help you identify whether what you’re seeing looks like normal adjustment, something worth watching more closely, or a pattern that may benefit from additional support.

What You’ll Get From the Check-In

In about 60–90 seconds, you’ll get a clearer picture of how your student is adjusting in eight key areas, including academics, stress, social adjustment, routines, problem solving, communication, changes from their usual baseline, and your overall level of concern.

After you complete the Check-In, you’ll receive:

  • A brief summary of what your answers may be showing
  • Practical tips based on your results
  • Guidance on whether what you’re seeing looks like normal adjustment or something worth paying closer attention to

College Support Before There Is a Crisis

Starting college is exciting, but it can also be a much bigger emotional and social adjustment than families expect.

For more than 25 years, I’ve helped college students and their families navigate homesickness, anxiety, isolation, academic pressure, and the transition to greater independence.

I created the College Adjustment Check-In to help parents get a clearer picture of how their student is adjusting, recognize areas that may need more attention, and understand what next steps may be helpful.
